Anticipation for your Arrivals

June 25, 2018Leave a Comment

The Camp Simcha Special staff have been excitedly preparing for camp and are anxiously awaiting the arrival of their campers. The staff have been enjoying their two days of orientation, all leading up to the campers arrivals. They can’t wait to make memories and loving friendships to last not for only the summer, but for the rest of their lives!

Bug’s Life

Today was awesome! After breakfast this morning a helicopter came to give the campers rides! After that we had final workshops for everyone to pick up the amazing things that they made over the session. Later on we had a silent rave “(everyone wears headphones and dances to one of three channels)in the social hall! Now we are packing 🙁 but everyone’s getting ready for tonight’s banquet!

Today was a memorable day. We started the day with the breakfast of champions, an amazing spread with omelet stations, waffles, and much more! Later on, we went to the social for a concert from Ohad Moskowitz! After lunch, we had a speech from George Dennehy, a man who was born without arms, and yet can still play guitar and piano!

Bike 4 Chai!!!! We started out the day pretty much like normal, but it was not  a normal day. At 3:15 we had an amazing Division Power Parade, with each division wearing their own hat and chanting their own chant! We then moved on to the tennis court, where we greeted the bikers with a massive party and award ceremony! Finally, tonight’s night activity is the camp musical, “The Grinch Who Stole Simcha”!

Frontier Land

Today was packed! We had super-expensive sports cars (Rolls Royce, Audi, etc.) come to camp, and the owners drove campers around camp! We also had a Frontier Land Shootout behind the parking lot, where campers got to make their own targets, and then shoot them with BB guns! The older campers, 14+, also got to shoot skeet with real guns! Not only that, we had combat archery in the gym, which saw bunks getting bows and foam tipped arrows, and shooting each other to see who can get more hits!

Super Hero Day

August 15, 2017Leave a Comment

We had a super day so far! We let all of the campers choose their own workshops in an a la carte activity, besides for one division, which went on an amazing horseback riding trip! A bit later we had a show from the acting group Main Stages,  acting out a hilarious whodunit mystery, with campers asking the suspects questions! The resolution of the mystery is going to be happening later this evening, so stay tuned!

Splash Mountain

Whoa, what a day! Today is Splash Mountain, which means lots of water. We started with a bubble run, which saw everyone running through camp and playing in different colored bubble stations which had been set up throughout camp. The bubble run ended on the tennis court where a massive bubble pit was set up, and we had an awesome time dancing while covered in bubbles! We moved on from there to an all-out water fight, with each division having it’s own color water to shoot with! Meanwhile, our oldest division is off on an awesome trip to a Subway Series baseball game!

Peter Pan

It’s been an awesome day so far! We had a visit from retired Mets player Nelson Figueroa, who signed baseballs for all of the campers, and then gave a pitching clinic so campers can pitch like the Majors! Stay tuned for the rest of today’s exciting activities!

Harry Potter

What a magical day! We started the day with an amazing Triwizard Tournament, a contest between two divisions wherein they compete to gather enough water to put out  campfire, allowing them to begin finding clues to free their division heads, who are locked up. their division heads then lead them to their divisions dragon who gives them clues to help them find the Quidditch Pitch, where everyone takes turns shooting the Quaffle into hoops! Later in the day, we had a concert from the world famous Avraham Fried!!!
