Shabbos In Camp

July 14, 2013Leave a Comment

Wow! What an amazing Shabbat we had, with non-stop action all the way through!

On Friday night, we had a great meal with singing, division cheers etc., Duvie “the Legend” Becker entertained us with his stories (and the hilarious simultaneous “translation” to Hebrew for the Israelis). He also gave 3 campers a special award for displaying great kindness to others.

We spent the next day relaxing and getting to know each other better. The library was full all afternoon, with guys reading, chatting and playing games. (Who doesn’t love a good game of “Mafia”?)

The game room was also busy, with intense competitions on the ping pong and pool tables. Counselors and campers battled it out, with both sides trying their best to win.

We also had an epic BINGO game, with spectacular prizes, ranging from Coby MP3 Players, all the way to the top prize, an iPod Nano!

As night descended onto camp, we gathered on the porch, facing the setting sun, for a deeply inspiring kumzitz. We sang all the classics, providing solos on the high parts.

Once the sun had finally disappeared under the horizon, and Shabbat ended, we went into the dining room for a very lively disco. With our talented band giving it all they got, we really rocked the place!

After that, we split into divisions. For some it was movie night, and others had fishing. The Israeli division even had a delicious barbeque by the pool.
