Nothing says “Neon-Day-Is-Totally-Gnarly” like a Gad Elbaz Concert!!! There was something of a “Flash-Snap-And-Glow” and then BAM, a Color Wild Explosion “Elbaz-Style” in the dining room. Needless to say, we took to the dance floor, a spinning, singing whirlwind of highlights. Some enthusiastic fans even joined the world famous singer on the stage, assisting with some dance moves and a touch of color. But the Crazy didn’t end there…as soon as the music slowed and the applause went up like a confetti blast over a collage of color, a new beat took over the Simcha atmosphere…

Hot Pink and Hair Spray
Get your groove going and some disco pants on, because it’s Neon Day at Camp Simcha and we are going to bring down the house! We’ve been invaded by highlights this morning from glow-in-the-dark sneakers to neon yellow wigs. And just for today, the 8O’s are back in fashion scrunchies, hairspray and all! Boom-boxes and Rubik’s cubes have hit the dining room this morning and spray painting on the baseball field is officially on our to-do list.
The Inside Scoops on Hula-Hoops
A heavy silence fell on the crowd like a circus big top deflating after the final show. Nothing moved and no feet shuffled below the stands. Every pair of eyes waited, following the circular motions on center stage. There they stood, two Camp Simcha acrobatic trainees performing in the most Circtacular Show on Earth, each armed with a single hula-hoop and the silence of the crowd.
Siena and JP were world class acrobats tonight, each maintaining a record long hula hoop run alongside the Circtacular performers! Following their hit starter show, there was a healthy dose of impossible twists, a large helping of duo-hand stands and human towers, finishing with a side of NBA-class applause from our very own. The performance tonight marks the end of a long standing Orange-Basketball trend from the very first breakfast hoops this morning to the final jump-flip-and-dunk from our night performers.
Simcha Superstars, keep scoring against the clock and never stop cheering from the stands.
The Afternoon Highlights
We come to you directly from Basketball Central here at Jacob’s Gym where the staff match has just taken place in front of a roaring Camp Simcha crowd. In the final quarter, with only seconds left on the clock, Shterny was ready for the play. Flying down the court, she threw a no look pass to Michie who went in for the shot. But no! The ball rebounded off the rim and Shterny attempted another pass to Zahava who was defended closely by Rivky. But then, with fifteen seconds left, Rivky intercepted Shterny, stealing the ball and running down the court for the slam dunk! Seven seconds left to the game, and with Michie and Zahava at her heals, Rivky made a winning pass to Shaindel who scored the final play shooting a Buzzer Beating Three!!! Our fans on the bleachers went wild, waving signs and posters in loyal support of their Division Heads. This has been the basketball highlights from Simcha Central.
Backboard Shattering At Breakfast
Do you have what it takes to make it to the Big Leagues?! Are you up for grueling drills, demanding coaches and daily practices on the field? Well, WE ARE! At Camp Simcha, we’re dunking baskets at breakfast and celebrating Orange Day “NBA style!” For today’s starters, we’ve got Zahava on offense attempting her first shot of the season while Rivky – sporting an orange prisoner jumpsuit – defends the court.
And she scores! It’s all net folks and we’ve got ourselves some NBA material right here in Simcha! Call the scouts! From the top of the roster and with live updates from our sports specialists, the official Camp Simcha Basketball Championships are scheduled for this afternoon and anyone can play! But, if you’re more of a cheerleader than a basketball superstar, just grab a banner, shake a few pom-poms and join us on the bleachers for some serious Major League Cheering! It all starts today, Orange Basketball Day, and you certainly do not want to miss it!
Night Carnivals and Midnight Marshmallows
We’ve been exterminating ghosts from behind bunkhouses and inside soda machines and we’ve scouted out the rooftop of the dining room and the baseball field from the views of a helicopter. Ladies and Gentleman, people and paranormals, ghosts and girls, it’s time for a Night Carnival! Looking Great in Green, our campers flocked to the fields where they found an array of pickle-eating contests, game booths and a dunking tank ready for some serious fun!
Now one might think that water gun racing, ring tossing and prize catching may as well take up the whole night, but, in Camp Simcha, that just wouldn’t be the case. No sir, our dedicated staffers and daring wilderness expert have managed to squeeze out just enough time for a…BONFIRE!!! Post night activity, it’s a marshmallow-roasting, s’more-toasting Extravaganza! While Green Day may be winding down, the action is only just beginning. Grab some wood, toss on a green buret, drag along a fellow camper and wave around some Simcha because the magic is starting now at the fire-pit…
Ghostbustering Sky-High
We’ve been so busy zapping up gobs of slime and pulverizing ghost prints that we nearly missed the sound of propellers overhead. Just nearly. But there it was, motor roaring right at the front of camp, a Helicopter ready to offer up a sky-high view of Glen Spey New York! We spent the better part of the late morning catching rides up top coptering all around campus. Who would have guessed that ghostbusters and helicopters work so well together.
A Mysterious Case of Slime
They’re BIG, they’re GREEN, and they’re covered in…SLIME! Green Ghostbuster Day has come to Simcha, leaving behind a long, thin, trickling trail of slime. Gurgling test tubes, gadgets and levers, watchama-call-its and thing-a-ma-bobs covered in thick dollops of slimy green goo are on the dining room display this morning as part of a secret peek into the deepest lairs of the Ghostbuster Laboratories.
DO NOT be alarmed if you catch a swift glimpse or spy a shadowy trace of some Great, Green Ghosts lurking around Camp Simcha today, just get to the nearest telephone and dial The Ghostbuster Headquarters!!! We’ve got you covered all day long, just charge those Proton Accelerator Packs and power up the Slime Blowers. With Spectronalizers in ship-shape and our Ecto-Goggles tightened, we’re all ready for the Greenest, Slimiest Day in Ghostbuster history!
The Weekend Wrap-Up
Friday’s yellow Emoji’s melted into a fully booked weekend packed with Shabbat choirs, Bingo challengers and afternoon munching at the canteen. Many of our girls tried out for solos in the choir tonight directed by our very own Aviva and even more winning campers crushed at Bingo this afternoon. The Shabbat play was a #1 hit on Simcha’s Broadway debuts with Aviva on the keyboard and everyone on the dance floor to finish off the night.
