The Fried Phenomenon On A Pink Afternoon

July 20, 2016Leave a Comment

As if painting in pink and art schooling weren’t enough, the one and only AVRAHAM FRIED showed up for a late afternoon concert to top it all off! True to his newest album’s title, Avraham Fried at Camp Simcha “Brought The House Down!” And we all helped 😉 Our dancing campers and counselors stormed the floor while the rest of our junior singers took to the stage along with the band. It was a musical mad house in the social hall and we were behind it!

A Simcha-Sized shout out to Dassi who took over the mic and got to sing a solo. You did a phenomenal job!

Little Miss School Girl

Looking Perfect in Pink, our campers expanded their artistic skills at Art School this morning, painting and cutting, sketching and tracing in hurried preparation for our Art Gallery tonight! Trailing pretty pink tutus, we visited several creative stations including canvas painting, tissue paper art and modern mosaics. After an impressive morning creating these world class works, Camp Simcha’s masterpieces will be on display for public viewing at the night Art Auction, an elegant event attended only by the most renowned artists, the greatest campers and award winning staff members.

Looks like Erika got lost in the mosaic gallery!

Little Miss PINK-A-RRIFIC

July 20, 2016Leave a Comment

With neon days far behind us and slimy green potions just a whisper of memories, we’re trying a day of pretty pink lace and pink-frosted cupcakes. Pink Tutus on pink hangers with pink curtains on the side, it’s all think cute and pink, it’s a PINK-A-RRIFIC ride. Our campers made the only logical move, just exactly what you’d think. They’ve come flocking to the dining room wearing yes! You’ve guessed it, PINK!

It’s a PINK-A-RRIFIC morning and that’s not all the fuss! our girls were treated to a breakfast cookout with Rachella, our wilderness expert. Pretty pink tutus in the great outdoors!

Pink Wednesday is just beginning and we’ve got loads to cover.

The Great Thing About Malfunctioning Stars

July 19, 2016Leave a Comment

Maybe all the street lights were down or the moon finally burnt out, because nothing lit up like our very own campus tonight! It was a Glow Party in the social hall! Campers and staff alike were greeted by glow-in-the-dark face painters who prepped them for the late-night flash-bright soiree inside. Glow-in-the-dark beverages matched with neon streamers, glow sticks and all things highlighted decorated the dancing room. With the music cranked up and a high voltage energy stream rising from the dance floor, our girls lit up the night, ending Neon Day in full swing! If the stars were off tonight, we wouldn’t have noticed. Our Glow Party after dark ignited Camp Simcha like a mob of superstars on a moonless night. Our girls danced the house down!!!

Post-Dinner Drum Fest

They light up on a Tuesday’s twilight. They glow in the shadows of a Simcha sunset. And, apparently, they drum to the beat of a Neon Day’s night activity as an extra bonus! Tonight’s agenda included a Musical I.Q test with our drumming expert Ely, who entertained us with a round on her bongo, displaying an impressive mastery of her musical talents. We learned how to follow the rhythm, tap to the tone and bounce to the beat, ultimately bumping us up a few points on tonight’s Musical I.Q test.

Camp Simcha, you’re at 100%!!!

Stick around later for some late-night “Light-Ups” after dark…

Running Through A Rainbow

Who’s ready for a Camp Simcha COLOR RUN?!

All you glow-in-the dark, neon covered, flash-filled, lit up athletes, get on your running gear – maybe a little extra glow paint for good measure – because colored winds have hit campus! Our marathon bordered the circumference of the grounds and every step of the way was riddled with blasts of Reds, Greens and Blues, the sum-up of our Neon Color Crazed afternoon. Erica got completely “Blotched in Blue” from her trek through neon rains and let’s just say the Fields of Camp Simcha won’t easily forget the Color Storm of 2016 that hit with whopping force!

A Big Bright Color Blasted Congratulations to all of our Simcha runners. You guys look Fabulous in those color-stained shirts. Who knew RED was your color?!

What Does Neon Sound Like?

July 19, 2016Leave a Comment

Nothing says “Neon-Day-Is-Totally-Gnarly” like a Gad Elbaz Concert!!! There was something of a “Flash-Snap-And-Glow” and then BAM, a Color Wild Explosion “Elbaz-Style” in the dining room. Needless to say, we took to the dance floor, a spinning, singing whirlwind of highlights. Some enthusiastic fans even joined the world famous singer on the stage, assisting with some dance moves and a touch of color. But the Crazy didn’t end there…as soon as the music slowed and the applause went up like a confetti blast over a collage of color, a new beat took over the Simcha atmosphere…

Get your groove going and some disco pants on, because it’s Neon Day at Camp Simcha and we are going to bring down the house! We’ve been invaded by highlights this morning from glow-in-the-dark sneakers to neon yellow wigs. And just for today, the 8O’s are back in fashion scrunchies, hairspray and all! Boom-boxes and Rubik’s cubes have hit the dining room this morning and spray painting on the baseball field is officially on our to-do list.

The Inside Scoops on Hula-Hoops

July 18, 2016Leave a Comment

A heavy silence fell on the crowd like a circus big top deflating after the final show. Nothing moved and no feet shuffled below the stands. Every pair of eyes waited, following the circular motions on center stage. There they stood, two Camp Simcha acrobatic trainees performing in the most Circtacular Show on Earth, each armed with a single hula-hoop and the silence of the crowd.

Siena and JP were world class acrobats tonight, each maintaining a record long hula hoop run alongside the Circtacular performers! Following their hit starter show, there was a healthy dose of impossible twists, a large helping of duo-hand stands and human towers, finishing with a side of NBA-class applause from our very own. The performance tonight marks the end of a long standing Orange-Basketball trend from the very first breakfast hoops this morning to the final jump-flip-and-dunk from our night performers.

Simcha Superstars, keep scoring against the clock and never stop cheering from the stands.
