China Day Comes to an End

August 17, 2015Leave a Comment

Our visitors from Deal came with loads of presents for all the campers. Colorful bags, dolls, sunglasses, and towels were just a few of the awesome prizes that they brought! Every lucky camper walked out with huge bags stuffed with presents. After dinner, we had a Chinese Auction! Campers got dollars throughout the day that they kept in their Chinese purses, and used those to get tickets to put in for the awesome prizes! Our super fun day didn’t end there! We had an amazing Chinese performance where they even taught us how to speak some Chinese words and how to wave the ribbons like a professional Chinese dancer! What a fun day! Can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!

More From Our Day In China

We had a Great Wall of China game headed by Mrs. Ching Chong. Each division received folded boxes and had to put together the boxes and see who could build the biggest and tallest wall. After that, they were given blow up balls and threw them around trying to knock down the other teams’ walls. We all had lots of fun! Everyone got to decorate their own Chinese umbrellas afterwards and enjoy refreshing ices and candy from the giving tree. Can’t wait to see what special activity will be!

Eating lunch under the Chinese lanterns was so much fun! Everyone got their own Chinese purse to keep their money and got to collect their paintings that were made during breakfast. After finishing lunch, our exciting visitors from Deal arrived, and everyone got Deal Day t-shirts and danced away! Can’t wait to see what the rest of the day has in store for us!

We made stunning necklaces in glass fusion today! After many fun activities, we had a balloon launch in preparation for our music video. Everyone made a wish as they let the balloons soar into the sky. It was really fun and exciting to watch the balloons become smaller and smaller as they soared higher and higher! We had amazing Hawaiian chicken for dinner. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for night activity!

We jumped into a giant pit full of bubbles and had bubble fights in it. Keeping with our Caribbean theme, in arts and crafts, campers made seashell jewelery, sand art, and picture frames and got to play with sand. At lunch today, we got to go to the tiki bar and get smoothies! With all this going on, and the colorful costumes, it really feels as of we are in the Caribbeans!

Day 5: Caribbean Day

Today our superstars were awoken with a top secret envelope next to their beds. They had a scavenger hunt that led them to the fire pit where they had a cookout for breakfast! Aviva came with the guitar and everyone danced to the hokey pokey and then got special superstars headbands! The dining room was all decked out in the Carribbean theme and we were greeted by Hula girls dancing to Hawaiian songs. Everyone was dressed in hula skirts and colorful flower headbands and necklaces. We got our faces painted and made our way to the exciting activities that the day has in store for us!

Our first Shabbat in camp was amazing! After our usual pre-Shabbat pictures, we had kabbalat Shabbat and ate a tasty Shabbat meal followed by oneg Shabbat with Rabbi Simcha Scholar. At lunch today, Ruchama liba told us how she went on the ropes course for the first time in the four years that she has been coming to Camp Simcha. She said I am strong and I am going to over come my fears. She is so amazing! Sarah spoke about how amazing Camp simcha is and all that she has gained here. We are all so inspired from her speech! After lunch, we enjoyed an amazing skit and a magic show from the amazing David Blatt! Afterwards, David showed us how to do a few tricks! Following Shabbat we had dancing. What an amazing time we had! Can’t wait to see what this week has in store for us!
