July 3, 2015Leave a Comment

Waking up to the beautiful songs of our nation, Camp Simcha Special is celebrating July 4th a day early!!! Everyone is dressed very patriotically and red white and blue is galore. On this gorgeous sunny day, everyone is so so happy! Also today was extremely special, for it was HELICOPTER DAY! Every camper got to go up in the sky for a scenic look at camp. It was amazing! Everyone had a blast. More activities to come, including fun at the lake!

For lunch, we had a BBQ with hamburgers and hotdogs, salad, and delicious fruit. Let’s just say we really felt the spirit in the air! Later on there will be a parade and other excitement for this national holiday!

Finishing off Day 4- Italy!

Today Simcha Special was just drilled to the brim with exciting activities! Right after lunch we walked out to a wonderful surprise, finding three gorgeous Italian sports cars sitting outside the dining room!! Every camper got to ride around our wonderful campus enjoying these convertibles.
The next fun activity was taking place at the lake. The divisions were split up in half and each raced to collect noodles and ducks on a boat. The other half had to tie noodles to strings and see who could create the longest rope. There was lots of excitement, cheering, and teamwork.
Lastly, right before dinner, there was a very cool BMX show where performers on bikes came in to do multiple flips and other tricks! It was such a fun filled day 🙂

And from what I hear, there’s even more in store tomorrow!

Camp Simcha Special Day 4- Italy!

This morning when walking into the dining room, one who didn’t know probably would’ve thought they were really in Italy! With a gondala in the middle of the room, italian songs playing, and gorgeous pictures of the Italian streets hanging it was stunning. There were tables with people dressed as waitresses walking around. Everyone had such creative costumes, such as pizzas, Mario’s and Luigi, noodles, chefs, ninja turtles, and much more. Right after breakfast, each camper made their own pizza with italian sauce and cheese! They’ll be fresh out of the oven just in time for lunch!

The schedule has some very exciting SURPRISE activities planned and we can’t wait to share them with you soon!

Then end of an incredible day in Mexico!!

We had a fun packed afternoon today: During learning groups we learned about thanking those around you and being a kind person. Then every camper had the opportunity to draw smiley faces and eat cookies for snack time 🙂
In the recording studio a group of 4 campers were beautifully  singing “Let It Go”, from the famous movie Frozen! These girls of Camp Simcha Special really do have incredible voices! Many girls even got solos to sing, as well as a duet!!

Then for our super mexican dinner, we had Tacos, chili, tortilla chips with salsa, and more!  Our fiesta was topped off with wonderful performances by our talented campers. There was an original play by Niya, Eliana, and paige. Chaya and Dawn entertained us with mexican dancing. Charna showed off her choreographic skills in a unique dance. To finish off the fantastic mexican day, we roasted marshmallows and sang by the bonfire!

We can’t wait for tomorrow’s theme….. there’s so much in store!!!!

Afterwords Chaya Leeba took me downstairs to show me her favorite activity- Polymer Clay making! There were clay minions and hello kitties! They looked absolutely gorgeous.

Stay tuned for more to come!!

Camp Simcha Special Day 3-Mexico!!

When we walked into the dining room today, it was as if we were transported to Another country!!! With sobreros, colorful flags, and rainbow ponchos decorating the floor ceiling and walls, one really felt as if they were in MEXICO! With a delicious breakfast (as per usual) the mexican theme was in the air. Even one of our very own camp Simcha campers- who is from Mexico city, spoke a bit of Spanish for us! Then there was another raffle this morning and Zloty and Yemina won a prize! It was an exciting morning for everyone, and can’t wait to see what else is in store for the rest of the day 😉

Day 2- China’s night activity!!

June 30, 2015Leave a Comment

For night activity we were privileged to watch authentic Chinese dancers! Dressed up in amazing costumes, they performed the sword dance, lion dance, napkin, fan, red ribbion, and other beautiful dances! Even a mongolian old age dance! It was gorgeous to watch and really learn about the Chinese culture.
After the dances, 7 lucky campers were chosen to get up on stage in front of the entire camp simcha special to learn and perform the ribbon dance themselves!

Cant wait to see what else is in store for tomorrow and what exciting things we will have!

Continuation of China Day!

Tonight after a delicious Chinese dinner we had an incredible ” Hannah Montana” Concert by our very own camper Hope! She was incredible and we were all singing and dancing along. The Campers were met with a “Challenge” along their way around the word! Four campers were called up to complete this challenge, one per division. They had to see who was the fastest of eating with chop sticks! At the sound of the gong, each camper had to race and each applesauce with chopsticks! It was so much fun to watch and cheer our friends on. It was a close race! We were on our toes seeing who would win. However in the end it was Rachel who was the winner with Sarah as a second place, and third and fourth winners in close pursuit.
Just after it was the division heads turn to be challenged! They had to eat edamames with chopsticks! Now that was a sight to see. With the crowd cheering on their heads it was crazy to see. And they had to each eat every single bean! The winner was Shaindel, of the youngest division.
Next up, each camper throughout the day collected tickets. And just now there was a raffle for 4 prizes all made in china! Each camper had a “Chinese Auction” to have a chance of winning a prize maybe even for the whole division! Each camper got a gorgeous Chinese painting personalized with their name and a special picture. We even got to learn a few words in Chinese!
Back to the auction, Paige won Chinese fans for her whole division! The next winner, Gabby, won Chinese Yo yos! For Chaya Malka, she won also Chinese Fans for the purple division! And for the last prize, Chayala won Chinese bracelets with hearts on them!
That was an incredibly fun-filled auction, and night activity hasn’t even started yet!

Camp Simcha Special Day 2- China day!

Today was china day!! The dining room was decorated GORGEOUSLY with Chinese lanterns and dragons. When we walked in (from a long day of rain and training) Becca and her counselor Nechama were painting Chinese fans and umbrellas! Becca couldn’t wait to tell me about her day!: “I did candle making, I got a janga wall stacked around me! Best part of my day was going on the mini carrousel. Even though it was raining I had so so so much fun. I played and danced a lot in the rain! It was really exciting, china day, making decorations and fans and whatnot.” This is Becca’s third year in Camp Simcha Special and she can’t wait to have more “travels around the world”!

Another incredible camper I talked to, was Rivka Bracha. “Best part of today? I don’t even know, there was just so much!! Baking was really so fun even though it was messy. We explored the costume closet and running around down the mountain! We also made fortune cookies today and even got to wrote our own fortunes! And then I got to keep my own cookie 🙂 Not only that, but there were face painters today to do our makeup. I just love everything here, especially the dancing at meals.” (This is our campers sixth year in camp so she really knows the ropes!)

What a great morning it was here in Camp Simcha Special. Can’t wait to keep you all posted!
