Today we had a fair of all of the different workshops that we have in camp. We got to try them all out to see which ones we like and which ones we love. There are so many different things that we can do in camp. There is cooking, mad science, Lego Mindstorm, wilderness, arts & crafts, painting, learning how to DJ, and more! The only problem is that they are all so fun, and I want to do them all at the same time!

Tennis Anyone?
It is blue day in camp, and that means that Camp Simcha Special has been transformed into an aquatic paradise. Hopping over to the tennis courts in the morning is a great way to get the juices flowing on what promises to be another amazing day. The tennis coach teaches us how to swing properly, and in no time the balls are flying everywhere.
The Wild N’ Wacky Challenge!
The “Wild N’ Wacky Challenge” was in Glen Spey tonight, and they lived up to their name. There were tons of different contests, activities, and challenges that got everyone involved. They also brought along plenty of pies to go around, except these weren’t for eating, instead they went straight into everyone’s faces. It was a big mess, (and it was crazy fun too)!
Basketball Time!
No better way to spend Orange Day than on the hardwood. But when we play basketball, we do it Camp Simcha Special Style. That means that everyone plays, at the same time, and it gets wild. There is a constant commotion, non-stop chanting, ridiculous celebrations, and of course endless amounts of fun. We were treated to a hilarious halftime show by our waiters, and a terrific concert at dinner from one of campers.
Orange Orange Everywhere!
Orange Day in Camp Simcha Special means that we are playing basketball. But before that, we stopped off to make some pottery. Its fun to get all messy as we mold the clay into all different types of creations. When we finish molding them, we get to paint them up to fit our wildest imaginations. Anything that you can think of, you can make at the pottery workshop. And as a bonus, smearing some clay on your counselor’s face is pretty fun too.
Incredible Shabbat in Camp!!
Wow, what an amazing, and energetic Shabbat in camp! We started it off right with “Camper Counselor Portraits” in our nice clothing before Shabbat, and everyone was looking their best. Then we moved right into a night of lively singing and delicious food. During the day it poured for hours, but that didn’t stop the fun from continuing to roll right on along. We had a terrific magic show, and afterwards the magician sat down with us and even taught us a few tricks. I can’t wait to go and blow everyone away at home. We played bingo, and other games for the rest of the afternoon until it was time to conclude an action packed Shabbat. Right when it was over, the disco lights were on, the band was playing, and we were back at it on the dance floor. Looking forward to an amazing week in camp!
Thank you Dembi!
Today at lunch we celebrated the marriage of our one-of-a-kind Head Counselor Ari Dembitzer to Laura Klibanow! It was a great atmosphere as we got the opportunity to say thank you. We had a meaningful, powerful, and inspirational tribute to Dembi from our campers. Seven different campers/alumni spoke about “What Dembi means to me…”, and we were all deeply touched. However, no tribute would be complete without one our famous Camp Simcha Dance Parties, so of course the obvious next step was to bust out some moves on the dance floor #Sababa16 style.
Starting off Yellow Day with a Bang
Pikachus, and bananas are running wild. Emojis are everywhere. And, be care to not run into a stray Big Bird. That’s right, its Yellow Day in Camp Simcha Special, and #ColorCraze16 has officially begun!
We had a surprise visitor this morning who really rocked the house. Lipa Schmeltzer was here and he put on a great show. Together with the amazing Camp Simcha Band, he had all of us dancing, jumping, and sweating. You just can’t help but smile from the tangible energy, and pumping music, coupled with Lipa’s fun personality. All of this and it is only noontime. I can’t wait to see what other fun this day will bring.
Visitors from France
Tonight Camp Simcha Special was invaded by the French. The Twins from France that is! This duo put on a terrific show for the whole camp. They flipped, tricked, and gimmicked all over the gym, and it was awesome! Their funny style of entertainment had us all laughing the whole time. I got pretty nervous when they started juggling the fire, and swords though. One of them even swallowed a whole sword! They got our amazing campers involved as well. They got a chance to throw the juggling balls, try to blow out a blazing torch, and even got flipped by the twins too. What a great finish to an action packed first day of camp! I can’t wait to see what is in store for tomorrow.
Out on the Water
After a morning packed with dancing, who doesn’t want a chance to cool down in the water? If you have the need for speed, then a ride on the newly upholstered speedboat is perfect for you. Looking for something a little more relaxed, perhaps the brand new bumper boats are more your style. Kayaks are also an excellent choice. There is so much to do at the lake, that it is nearly impossible to be bored.
