Friday’s yellow Emoji’s melted into a fully booked weekend packed with Shabbat choirs, Bingo challengers and afternoon munching at the canteen. Many of our girls tried out for solos in the choir tonight directed by our very own Aviva and even more winning campers crushed at Bingo this afternoon. The Shabbat play was a #1 hit on Simcha’s Broadway debuts with Aviva on the keyboard and everyone on the dance floor to finish off the night.

The Smiling Industry
It seems the entire Camp Simcha population has entered into another dimension – somewhere between Jacob’s Gym and the Arts ‘n Crafts Pavilion – we’ve discovered a yellow world brimming with Emoji Goji’s EVERYWHERE! Emoji throw pillows styled and decorated by our very own campers, yellow props, a major emoji volley ball game and emoji goji galleries where our photographers have captured every smirk, smile and pose.
If you’ve ever wondered which lucky trend-setters actually get to design new emojis, here’s a teeny tiny secret… At Camps Simcha central, deep within our emoji headquarters, our very own girls are working on top secret projects creating brand new facial expressions for the world! Armed with sacs of fluff, layers of glue, boxes of decorative accessories and a whole lot of yellow, our emoji making industry is booming this summer! Emoji goji’s everywhere!
Colorful Caricatures and Emoji-Goji’s
Which big, yellow emoji represents your personality?
Are you always calm and composed, donning cool shades and a devious smile?
Or do you overthink every situation, pondering life at every turn?
Are you Yellow with Camp Simcha happiness? Silly with Simcha smiles?
Well, you’ll have a bucketload of time to overthink your best “emoji-ed” self on this Yellow Emoji Friday! Our breakfast guest list included five little monkey division heads and Rivky with the yellow hat! Sponge Bobs made special appearances and bananas popped in intermittently. Emoji-Goji’s are scheduled in the gym this afternoon as we gear up for our very first Shabbat in Simcha!
Bungee Cords On A Blue Night
We’ve been bumper boating at the lake, getting to know each other with “ice-breakers” on the baseball field, and, of course, soaping up with foam storms at the gym. So, naturally, the only logical night activity entertainment had to be Bungee Jumpers! Tonight’s performers shocked us with their jump-roping capabilities and amazed us with their back-flipping, top-side kicking stunts. Our Color-Crazed Bonanza has only just begun to paint our corner of Camp Simcha this summer. There’s no telling what splashes of color will be shading our campus tomorrow…
All Hands on Deck!
Soapy spuds and Foamy Fantasies have been rocking our ship decks all afternoon long, making for some serious deep sea thrills! Our very first special activity of the summer involved a super-sized swimming pool brimming with…FOAM! We watched as it climbed the walls of Jacob’s Gym, overflowing onto the basketball court and we were all in the splash zone! Along with some mid-afternoon bubble madness, our girls were busy at work in the Candle Shop, the Pottery Corner, and a shipload of other workshops including canvas painting, baking and soap making. Schedules are packed and under-the-sea night activities on their way…
The Seven Seas of Simcha
No one knows quite how to explain it. State troopers are stunned, the local mayor is crying political scandal, because in just one night – and courtesy of some mysterious “night crew” – Camp Simcha has been mysteriously transformed from a rural camp to an underwater haven decked with jellyfish, coral reef collages and a tentacled sea monster! Buried treasure locked in ancient kelp-covered trunks are buried deep within the ocean floor of our very own dining room and campers have fallen right into sync, sporting all things blue and sea worthy! It’s Blue day at Camp Simcha and we are a sailing, ship-bound crew ready for our very first full day of exploration.
Think of a Number From 1 to 10…
Step right up ladies and gentleman, step right up. Just when you thought you’d seen it all, welcome to the spectacular, the amazing “David Levitan The Mentalist,” in his first time performance on Camp Simcha grounds!
We wrapped up our first night with some mind reading madness, applauding for some daring campers who volunteered to have their minds probed as part of the nighttime entertainment. Mr. Levitan was a card tricking, mind reading comedian as he guessed phone numbers, drew pictures based on stolen thoughts and floored us with his humor. With our first action-packed color storm starting tomorrow, this is Camp Simcha signing off for the night.
Meet ‘n Greets
Theme song – Check!
Dance moves – Check!
Unpacked – …Well…
Much of our afternoon was spent learning the steps to our Color Crazed theme song, unpacking, catching up with old camp friends, unpacking and getting to know each other. And still unpacking. Camp is a two week non-stop colored-crazy marathon and we’ve hit the floor running, settling into our bunkhouses while the very first night activity is set to begin very soon.
A Giant Welcome to all of our campers and staff!
Color-Coded Countdown
This is not a drill. REPEAT! This is not a drill.
Camp Simcha 2016 is officially rolling!
Schedules have been finalized, last farewells hastily thrown from bus windows, and stashes of anticipation carefully taped and labeled set to arrive at Glen Spey, New York any minute now! Our staff members and campers alike have been counting down the days until our spectacular Color-Crazed summer swings into motion.
Camp Simcha, we are officially on the clock…
in 5…4…3…2…1…!!!
