Ending off our day in Alaska

July 9, 2015Leave a Comment

Wow! What an amazing night activity! Simcha Leiner came and the entire Camp Simcha Special had a spectacular concert! There was singing, dancing, and cheering…the floors were shaking! Heads were bopping up and down wheel chairs where swinging in the air, it was a sight to see! The room was flashing with different color lights and disco balls! Campers faces were glowing! Each girl got blow up microphones to sing on! They also got glow in the dark necklaces! If the concert wasn’t enough, lucky Heroes played a game of glow in the dark football! It was a blast!

What an incredible night… can’t wait for tomorrow!

Our day in the cold!

By lunch today there was a lot of Ruach and spunk as always! All the division heads went up on stage and each chose two campers. Sol, Dawn, Sahar, Chaya, Efrat, Chayala, Julie  and Rachel. Every two girls were paired up and challenged to feed their partner ice cream with a catch- they were blindfolded! Congratulations to Chaya and Julie for winning the first challenge! In the next competition Rivka, Malky, Perela, and Esther were each given a tray of ice with 10 grapes in it. They had to find all ten grapes and eat them without using their hands! Yay for Esther for being the winner of this race!

So excited for our special surprise tonight!

Brrrrrr it’s coldddd here! Everyone please make sure to bundle up! Maybe even stay indoors to avoid all the snow! We have so many beautiful princesses and Queen Elsas, penguins, Eskimos, snowflakes and Olafs. Rachel, Ilana and Naomi all had a blast on the speed boat today as they went crashing over the waves! Ilana said the boat ride is very relaxing…she even got to swim in the lake today! Simcha, Rosy and Chana all had a great time recording in the recording studio. They sang Ashrei, & sounded great! Arielle got a chance to sing her favorite song- Roar! She was a real rock star!

We can’t wait for more!

Continuation of our day in France!

I see London I see FRANCE… I see a Paris FASHION SHOW! On our visit to France, we HAD to take a stop to have an amazing camper fashion show! The campers prepped backstage, picking out and creating gowns, as well as getting their hair and make up done by professional hair stylists and make up artists! They can also get their nails done (French manicures!) All campers also got beautiful accessories to glorify themselves! The smiles on these awesome campers faces was a sight to see! Some of the campers even got a chance to do their own counselors makeup.

Leah said “This camp always makes me feel like a princess and it’s the perfect place for me… I wish it was longer then two weeks!” Leora exclaimed that she feels so beautiful today. She’s never seen anything like this!

The makeup artists said the best part of doing the campers makeup was watching their faces glow; those shining faces will remain in their minds forever!
The room was lit up with disco balls and flashing lights. We even had our very own Eiffel Tower! Each girl got a chance to walk down the runway with the spotlight and music courtesy of our guest DJ. The girls get to take a bow, do a dance, blow kisses and have fun strutting their new looks! It was an incredible sight to see! Ilana said “the fashion show was so special because everyone has dreams about becoming famous and known, but not everyone gets that chance. So here today, we finally got the feeling that we could be famous and special because the spotlight’s on us and everyone is cheering  for us individually!’

The SIMCHA in the air tonight was indescribable! The happiness and excitement is just soaring through camp!

Day 8- une journée en France

Today Rivka’s Racers enjoyed a game of archery! Hindy almost got the bulls eye, she was so close! After that we filled up balloons with paint and each camper had to use their arrow and shoot the ballon and let the paint splatter all over! It was definitely messy but loads of fun!

Chaya and Rachelli are professional chefs and super creative.  They told me that slice is their favorite activity and they hope they have it next year also! (slice is an activity where campers bake and cook foods, and there are judges at the end of the activity to announce who’s food tasted the best.)

Another amazing activity that we had today was ropes coarse, everyone got a chance to do it! Campers had an awesome time flying through the trees on the zip line! Were so happy for Sara who decided to go up on the zip line, she hasn’t gone up in four years!

Can’t wait to share our special activity of the day with you!

Bonjour, welcome to France! Thanks to our most talented night crew staff who worked many hours last night…the campers walked into the dinning room which had been transformed into little French boutique shops! It was adorable! Campers were given sample tastes of different yummy french pastries! The costumes for today are also a sight to see! We have campers dressed up as the Eiffel Tower, Madeline, artists, fashion models and many more.

We can’t wait for our special surprise for our campers this afternoon!

The end of our day in Africa

To end off a super fantastic day we had a ‘simon says’ show by Steve Max for night activity. Abby, Shani, Sahar, Sol, Chaya, Zevah, Esther and Victoria were first round of volunteers. They were called up to be part of the “opera house” and sing just the word simchaaaaa and see how long they could hold their breath for. Yay team Abby for winning. Rachel was challenged to see how well she can play simple simon says without getting out! She was amazing! Next up were the counselors! And the winning counselor was Leah, Rachel’s counselor!!! Jackie said she loved night activity because Steve was halairious!

We had an absolutely fantastic day and can’t wait for tomorrow!

Congratulations to Abby for learning how to swim for the very first time!!!!!! And also a congrats to Sahar who has been in camp for FIVE years and today was  the first time she ever went into the pool! Were so proud of her! Our Camp Simcha Special campers just had a special activity, where each camper got a different type of instrument and had to shake and drum to the beat!

Continuation of our african day!

And today is the day we have all been waiting for!!!! the Tour de Simcha bikers have arrived! Even the pouring rain didn’t stop the bikers from biking so far all the way to camp to make the campers so happy!  The excitement and simcha that was in the air was indescribable! Everyone was jumping and singing and dancing and waving the banners that the campers so nicely decorated!  Dawn performed a ballet dance for the bikers! She was so graceful….I’m speechless! Next we had a group of campers do a dance for our bikers- they were adorable! After that, all the campers got up and sang a song with motions that they just learned! It was a song of encouragement for the bikers and showed the appreciation the campers all have to the bikers.

One of our campers, Chaya was telling me how nice it is and how special she feels that all these bikers train for so long, and work tirelessly in order to raise money and make her stay in Camp Simcha so much more exciting! And now camp has the resources and money to give the campers the best time possible thanks to these amazing women who bike rode!

It was an absolutely incredible afternoon here in camp simcha special!

Camp Simcha Special day 8- Africa

Lions and tigers and bears oh my!  Today we traveled to the African Safari,  watch your backs! There are “animals” everywhere! Chana said her favorite part in camp is when everyone dresses up, well today your sure to find everyone in some sort of African costume! The Campers  enjoyed “hunting” by having a water fight using water guns! And using those water guns, they had to chase their division heads and get them wet!
In arts and crafts today Rivka made a really pretty bracelet and she also got to decorate a jewelry box.  Campers also had the opportunity to color posters to hold up and cheer on the bike riders that will be arriving in just a few hours! Slice is another exciting activity that is probably most popular in  camp! Each team is given a box of ingredients and they have to create a master piece just like in the cooking show CHOP! They are judged on creativity, presentation, and taste of their food! Gittle said she loves this activity because it makes her feel like a real chef!

WE CAN’T WAIT FOR TOUR DE SIMCHA TO ARRIVE!!!
