The End

As the last day of camp it was only befitting that it be one of the most action packed days of the summer. We started off by greeting a whole group of motorcycle riders in the morning(all the campers got rides…duh). And promptly continued with a rave right after lunch(don’t ask me how you can have a rave in the middle of the afternoon but as we all know anything goes in simcha…). After the rave we had the final banquet (Which seemed suspiciously like a wedding including the music being played by the string quartet). I personally had so much pepper steak, and so much corned beef from the carving station that I nearly exploded (yes, the food was that good). After this we went to see the camp video upon which peoples emotions about leaving camp  started to show through(props to Moishy for making such a great/moving video). Everyone makes good friends in camp, and we all know how hard it is to say goodbye(no more need be said). of course in this age of social media goodbye many times is’t goodbye but still…

After the video we had a staff barbecue were Dembi(lDembi,,you’re great without you this place couldn’t function) thanked everyone for doing an AMAZING job…and than people went to bed (or did that all-nighter at the end of camp thing).

Guys(and girls)- I had a great time writing this blog this session and hope you enjoyed it as much as I did sooooo signing off for the last time

missing you

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

August 22, 2014Leave a Comment

Today’s theme was Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.(I’m not sure if the book or movie)

Today we had not one but TWO special activities.Everyone had breakfast in bed after being exhausted from yesterdays trip(what a way to wake up, right?). After breakfast our older campers got to go to…A SHOOTING RANGE!!! (everyone else had normal activities although I heard the Tardasim may or may not have turned baking into a flour battle). Today we also had jet-skiing (pure awesomeness or what???!!!) and afterwords had a special activity in the gym. This activity involved strapping on harnesses that made us all look like sumo wrestlers and playing soccer(very soft landing when you fell very easy to fall over)!!! Either way it was a lot of fun.

Sam Sparks: Really?

Manny: No, that was a joke. I am also a comedian.

One final mention: Shoutout to Menachem for providing Yaakov with the best ride in six flags yesterday (the picture of one guy pushing another in the wheelchair)

Six Flags-The Great Adventure

August 21, 2014Leave a Comment

Today was the annual Camp Simcha trip. The day was one of the most intense days of the summer(well duh trips always are).

We started off from camp at 11:00 towards Six Flags and arrived at 2:00ish and entered the park after lunch. All the campers received Flash passes (FYI a flash pass allows you to save a place in the line of a ride and come when it’s your turn instead of waiting in line) and after reserving a place in line by all the roller coasters we(camp simcha) proceeded to make our presence known to the entire amusement park(all the classic Simcha cheers, you know them by now). I spotted a group of staff and campers having having s blast on the carousel (real men ride the carousel with pride) and bumper cars are always fun. At 19:00 hours (SHARP) we gathered for the ANNUAL SIMCHA FLASH MOB, which this year had a new twist…it was silent!!! We coordinated by listening to the music over headphones in sync. after the flashmob we had supper and boarded the buses back to camp.

havin’ a blast

Elkana

P.S. Everyone received souvenir Six Flags cups with free refills on drinks for the entire day!!!

P.P.S. I finally got a selfie on the Kingda Ka!!! (the highest roller coaster in the world)

P.P.P.S. I loved J-Hawk’s mohawk (It’s not real but I thought it was)

One final mention: The picture of Dembi is the best

Final final mention: The Fuego sign in the park was priceless (for anyone who doesn’t know its the name of one of our divisions)

“There is no place like home.” L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz

August 20, 2014Leave a Comment

One word: Insane. That is the one word that best describes today. Today was one of the most action packed exciting days so far this summer and if you’ve been reading this blog than you know that means alot….So down to business.

Today was Willy Wonka/The Wizard of Oz day so as is typical of such a theme day the Tin Woodman was noticed hanging out with a group of Oompa Loompas (we all know how they slack off at the chocolate factory). After the typical morning activities (Fencing,Rocketry…you know the drill) we had lunch and than the Tardasim went on their annual mini-trip to Walmart and TJ Max (because we all know the joys of  shopping at Superstores). Of course the rest of camp had awesome activities to(in the spirit of  the day there was a willy wonka/wizard of oz candy activity).

After supper we had an amazing special activity which turned out to be an IMPROV MUSICAL our amazing staff performed an entire musical without any rehearsals(But with some guidance from Duvi)!!!! This musical entitled “The Very Scary Witch”. This classic Simcha production takes its inspiration from the L. Frank Baum classic “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” (I suspect it was also inspired by other classic performances such as Newsies, The Lion King,Wicked ,and Dembi). Upon reaching the happy ending of aforesaid musical, Luke and Benji got up on stage and sang a very moving duet (several members of the audience were brought close to tears). And for the final activity of the night we learned a flashmob which we may or may not be performing at Six Flags tomorrow (Did I mention we were going to Six Flags tomorrow?).

hasta la vista

P.S. Luke, that song was amazing!!!

P.P.S. Congragulations to Efshap for completing the rice bucket challenge(yes RICE picture will be posted I’m still waiting on the actual ice bucket challenge)

P.P.P.S. All you guys that sang in the musical you were Incredible (with a capital I)

One final mention:“I’ve heard tell that what you imagine sometimes comes true.
