Wild Water Rompus

July 17, 2014Leave a Comment

Campers always have a blast in the amazing Camp Simcha pool with its two water slides and jungle gym but today was better than ever! Instead of just swimming in the pool today, we had awesome activities in the pool. A sound system was brought to the pool for a big pool dance party!!! Campers enjoyed an energetic game of freeze dance to our favorite camp songs. The twist to the game…if a camper didn’t freeze, they were playfully splashed by the rest of the swimmers! We had some good laughs!!! Next up was an intense ball game of the munchkins vs the Israelis! Although the munchkins tried their hardest to keep the balls on the Israeli’s side, the Israelis came out victorious and celebrated with some swim cheers. The best part was when our dear head counselors joined us in the pool for a grand Camp Simcha dance!

Welcome to the happiest jungle you’ve ever been to! We’ve got lions, tigers, butterflies, raccoons, dogs, bears, cookie monster, and elmo! This morning a real chipmunk ventured into a few of our bunks to get campers into the theme, Where the Wild Things Are. We are looking forward to a wild and terrific day here at Camp Simcha!

Cholent Cook Off!!!

July 16, 2014Leave a Comment

Are you ready?! Camp Simcha cholent cook off! The camp divided into groups to compete for who could make the best cholent….but there was a twist! In order to get the ingredients, campers had to get on stage and do a cholent dance, a cholent song to the tune of “Do you want to build a snowman,” and make a creative banner to advertise their delicious cholent! The signs were gorgeous and colorful, and whet our appetite for their creative stews. We can’t wait until the taste-off tomorrow! We’ll see which group wins…

CARNIVAL!!!!!!!

July 16, 2014Leave a Comment

It’s finally here….. The Camp Simcha CARNIVAL!!!!! From face painting to bubble bath to carnival games, the smiles spread from ear to ear. We LOVED hearing the excited shrieks as campers rode the pirate ship and flew high on the Monkey Jump! The campers enthusiastically lined up to have their faces painted! The face painter was incredible and our campers left resembling tigers, bunnies, clowns, butterflies, dogs, fairies, and more! The contestants honed their aiming skills as they tossed weighted bags into the clown’s mouth and knocked down the bowling pins. The successful campers won tons of tickets and therefore were able to get many wondrous prizes!! Everyone had a great time watching our wonderful division heads being dunked into the massive tank of freezing cold water! Whats a carnival without a moon-bounce and what a moon-bounce we had!! The campers jumped, flipped, and twirled as the photographers captured their smiling faces.  Splash! The water-slide kept kids running back for more!  Who doesn’t love a bubble bath?? Faces shone as the campers flung bubbles from the bubble bath at their friends and counselors! Now that we are all clean… time for dinner!!!!!

When Zaidy was Young

July 16, 2014Leave a Comment

Ever wondered what it was like to live on the Lower East Side in the 1900s? Today we got to find out! When we walked into the dining room, we were greeted by peddlers who were selling their wares. The entire room had become a market place in accordance with the theme of When Zaidy (grandfather) was Young. To add to the fun and excitement the forecast today is NOT cloudy with a chance of meatballs but rather sunny, breezy, and beautiful!

In sweet shoppe on this gorgeous morning, campers learn how to make matza ball cake pops. While smashing the cake with their hands and then mixing it with icing, smiles light up their faces. In the pot shop, campers are painting their one-of-a-kind bowl, signs, jewelry boxes, necklaces, and more. They can’t wait to show it to you all when they get home!

Simon Says…

July 15, 2014Leave a Comment

Can you tap your head, touch your ears, squeeze your nose? Now stand up and cheer!!! Steve Max joined us in Camp Simcha! Simon Sez brought everyone to their feet playing, cheering, and laughing hysterically! Campers and staff were called up to compete with each other to be the Simon Sez Champion!!!!! Everyone was involved in the fun and excitement. Girls sang their names as long as they could hold the note, had dance-offs and more during our marvelous night activity. We never imagined it could be so much fun to play Simon Says together!

Now Simon Says to go to bed…Looking forward to an amazing day tomorrow!

Lights, Camera… Action!!!!

July 15, 2014Leave a Comment

As the lights dimmed and the curtains opened, our stupendous Simcha talent was revealed! The stage was open to anyone who wished to showcase their unbelievable talents!! A vast array of talents were performed as campers did what they like to do best or just went on stage to have a good time. Who would have thought that there was soooo many amazing singers in camp? The audience sat back and enjoyed as our precious campers graced us with their angelic voices. For some campers it was their first time singing in front of a large crowd!! We were blown away when one young camper got on stage and solved a rubics cube in a few short minutes! Flips, cartwheels, headstands, and backbends brought us all to our feet for a standing ovation. Some dynamic duos were revealed when campers showed off their choreography in dazzling dance performances. The array of acts included comedians, poets, break-dancers, imitations, and an improv performance. Bunk 10 ended of the show as they joined together in dance and song. It was beautiful to see the enormous applause and cheering that each camper got as they performed!!! What a talented group we have here at the happiest place on earth!!!!!

Hop on the Magic School Bus!

When we woke up this morning, we thought the summer was over and we had started school already. It was quite a relief when we realized that campers and staff are clad in school uniforms and graduation gowns because today is Magic School Bus day! We are looking forward to all of the exciting activities that Simcha has planned for today!
