Our first Shabbat in camp was amazing! After our usual pre-Shabbat pictures, we had kabbalat Shabbat and ate a tasty Shabbat meal followed by oneg Shabbat with Rabbi Simcha Scholar. At lunch today, Ruchama liba told us how she went on the ropes course for the first time in the four years that she has been coming to Camp Simcha. She said I am strong and I am going to over come my fears. She is so amazing! Sarah spoke about how amazing Camp simcha is and all that she has gained here. We are all so inspired from her speech! After lunch, we enjoyed an amazing skit and a magic show from the amazing David Blatt! Afterwards, David showed us how to do a few tricks! Following Shabbat we had dancing. What an amazing time we had! Can’t wait to see what this week has in store for us!
Africa Day Coming to an End
Campers got to relax at our very own Simcha Spa where they got their hair, makeup, and nails done for Shabbat! Afterwards, we all went to the dining room for some delicious pre-shabbat kugel and cholent! Can’t wait to see what our first shabbat in Camp Simcha will bring! Have a great shabbat!
More From Our Day in Africa!
On the lake today, we got to ride on jet skis! Picking up some quick snacks from canteen, we headed off to our exciting activities! Rivky said that her favorite thing to do in Camp Simcha is the candle making! Everyone makes the most amazing candles there! We headed to the gym where we were given papers with pictures of counselors dressed as animals and had to hunt for them. Once we found them we shot them with our water guns. What a fun way to cool down! We are all having a blast!
Continuation of Our Day In Africa
After our fun activities like pottery, ductigami, glass fusion, and many others, it was really refreshing to jump into the pool on this hot day. As we made our way to lunch, we were greeted by the sounds of African music and the banging of drums. After eating our delicious lunch, we danced to the music and made our way to our next activities.
Day 3: Africa Day
Lions and tiger and bears, oh my! Today is Africa day! We danced into the dining room to the waka waka and were greeted with zebras, giraffes, lions, and many other safari animals. We got to sit on the jeep and take pictures with all the animals. We got our faces painted, ate a yummy breakfast, and went out outside excited to see what special activity was. We were not let down! A giant helicopter flew into camp and we were able to ride in the helicopter! It was so cool to be able to see the camp grounds from up high! What a great start to a beautiful day at Camp Simcha!
Italy Day Night Activity!
For night activity, the great Eric Wilzig came to camp and gave us a performance to remember. His tricks kept everyone on their toes wondering what would happen next and how he could possibly pull off all the tricks. From guessing which card a girl was holding to making another’s ring come out of a prize dispenser, he definitely kept us all well entertained. Afterwards, while all the other campers went off to bed, the Heros enjoyed a nice bonfire where they roasted marshmallows and hot dogs. What a great day! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow has in store for us!
Italy Day Part 3
Four shiny, Italian, race cars raced into camp! Campers were able to take pictures in the cars while the music blasted and then they even got a chance to drive around in the cars! After some more exciting activities, we had our first race of camp. We each had to squeeze tomatoes and see which division made tomato juice the fastest. The empty tomato shells were thrown onto our wonderful division heads. The winners of this race were the Heros and Goldie won for the best squirted counselor! Can’t wait to see what’s for night activity!
Continuation of Italy Day
We all got chef hats and got to make our own pizzas in honor of Italy Day! Afterwards, everyone went off for more activities. Candle making, Pottery, Ropes Course, and Punch Art were just a few of the super fun activities that we got to do. Continuing with our Italian day theme, walking into the lunchroom was like stepping into the streets of Italy. We were greeted by Miriam playing the violin for us. We stood on line to make our own custom pizza, pasta or salad! We enjoyed some opera singing and then everyone got to come onto the dance floor to sing and dance. There are still so many more fun activities planned for the day, we can’t wait to share them with you!
Day 2: Italy!
We were awoken to the sounds of Italian music playing over the loudspeakers. Entering the dining room, we felt as if we were in Italy itself. Greeted by gondolas, Italian songs, and a giant picture of the Italian streets, we enjoyed a great breakfast. Campers got to have their faces painted afterwards. We can’t wait to see what the rest of the day has in store for us!
Day One Coming to a Close
After welcoming the campers into Camp Simcha, many headed off to the lake for some special water activities. Soon after, we headed to night activity where we had a fabulous time learning all the cool and different ways to jump rope. Campers got a chance to show off their skills on stage. They were amazing! Jumping rope backwards, forwards, two at a time, and many other tricks, they all kept us fascinated with all their skills. What a great way to end the day at Camp Simcha! We can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings.
