Continuation of our african day!

July 7, 2015Leave a Comment

And today is the day we have all been waiting for!!!! the Tour de Simcha bikers have arrived! Even the pouring rain didn’t stop the bikers from biking so far all the way to camp to make the campers so happy!  The excitement and simcha that was in the air was indescribable! Everyone was jumping and singing and dancing and waving the banners that the campers so nicely decorated!  Dawn performed a ballet dance for the bikers! She was so graceful….I’m speechless! Next we had a group of campers do a dance for our bikers- they were adorable! After that, all the campers got up and sang a song with motions that they just learned! It was a song of encouragement for the bikers and showed the appreciation the campers all have to the bikers.

One of our campers, Chaya was telling me how nice it is and how special she feels that all these bikers train for so long, and work tirelessly in order to raise money and make her stay in Camp Simcha so much more exciting! And now camp has the resources and money to give the campers the best time possible thanks to these amazing women who bike rode!

It was an absolutely incredible afternoon here in camp simcha special!

Camp Simcha Special day 8- Africa

Lions and tigers and bears oh my!  Today we traveled to the African Safari,  watch your backs! There are “animals” everywhere! Chana said her favorite part in camp is when everyone dresses up, well today your sure to find everyone in some sort of African costume! The Campers  enjoyed “hunting” by having a water fight using water guns! And using those water guns, they had to chase their division heads and get them wet!
In arts and crafts today Rivka made a really pretty bracelet and she also got to decorate a jewelry box.  Campers also had the opportunity to color posters to hold up and cheer on the bike riders that will be arriving in just a few hours! Slice is another exciting activity that is probably most popular in  camp! Each team is given a box of ingredients and they have to create a master piece just like in the cooking show CHOP! They are judged on creativity, presentation, and taste of their food! Gittle said she loves this activity because it makes her feel like a real chef!

WE CAN’T WAIT FOR TOUR DE SIMCHA TO ARRIVE!!!

This afternoon, our beautiful camper, Abby, shared a breathtaking story with me: “All my friends call me Abigail and only my family calls me Abby. But in camp simcha everyone calls me Abby because here everyone is considered my family!”

Moriah and Julie had a blast bumper boating and spraying everyone with water! Then by lunch we had a dance challenge. Each division had to preform the dance that they were taught. It was very competitive but still fun and exciting. Congratulations to Minchies Minions for winning this contest!! Very impressive!

We had a special surprise visitor today in camp! AVRAHAM FREID! We cheered we danced we sang! The floors were shaking there was so much SIMCHA in the room! Everyone was smiling campers and counselors alike! Jumping up and down on the stage and getting a chance to sing On the mike! Everyone had a blast! One camper said in the beginning she doesn’t like concerts, in the end she loved it and was singing and dancing  and came back to tell me that it was one of the best surprises in camp so far!

I must say… this day has been awesome so far!!

Aloha! Today we had a beach party! There was sand, beachballs and umbrellas. The campers made jewelry out of sea shells and cool shapes out of clay sand! They also made sand art projects and decorated picture frames with sand, sea shells and rocks! Additionally, the campers each got to color a wooden flip flip or beach chair! Zlati said her favorite project was coloring the Wooden beach chair! The campers also enjoyed having a water fight and playing in the sprinklers and getting their counselors soaked after all, partying on the beach means getting wet!

In honor of Fourth of July and our stop over in America we had a parade. It started off with the singing of the star spangle banner and then a march around camp! Every camper marched with a flag or decorated poster that she made! One of our incredible campers, Tehilla held a poster that said! “The reason US is the best is because of camp simcha! And none other reasons!”

Additionally there was a contest as to who’s wheelchair was decorated the best and the winner was none other then Sara! The challenge of the day was won by Rivkas Racers division, for having the best costumes and decorations! Yay them!

We can’t wait for our friday salon to open! Every camper will have the opportunity to have their hair, makeup, and nails done!

Waking up to the beautiful songs of our nation, Camp Simcha Special is celebrating July 4th a day early!!! Everyone is dressed very patriotically and red white and blue is galore. On this gorgeous sunny day, everyone is so so happy! Also today was extremely special, for it was HELICOPTER DAY! Every camper got to go up in the sky for a scenic look at camp. It was amazing! Everyone had a blast. More activities to come, including fun at the lake!

For lunch, we had a BBQ with hamburgers and hotdogs, salad, and delicious fruit. Let’s just say we really felt the spirit in the air! Later on there will be a parade and other excitement for this national holiday!

Finishing off Day 4- Italy!

Today Simcha Special was just drilled to the brim with exciting activities! Right after lunch we walked out to a wonderful surprise, finding three gorgeous Italian sports cars sitting outside the dining room!! Every camper got to ride around our wonderful campus enjoying these convertibles.
The next fun activity was taking place at the lake. The divisions were split up in half and each raced to collect noodles and ducks on a boat. The other half had to tie noodles to strings and see who could create the longest rope. There was lots of excitement, cheering, and teamwork.
Lastly, right before dinner, there was a very cool BMX show where performers on bikes came in to do multiple flips and other tricks! It was such a fun filled day 🙂

And from what I hear, there’s even more in store tomorrow!
