What an awesome day! We started by taking a ferry to Governor’s Island, where we enjoyed a delicious barbecue and rode multi-person bikes, all with a gorgeous view of the Hudson River. Then, we bounced our way through Central Park on bouncy balls; that was a blast! After that, we headed to Monsey, where the band “Pumpidisa” performed for us while we enjoyed an overabundance of pizza and fries. It was not only a delightful experience, but also an incredible opportunity for us to show the world what a magical place Camp Simcha truly is.
NYC Here We Come
Camp Simcha is heading to NYC! The buses are currently being loaded and we are just about ready to depart. We are anticipating an amazing trip and are ready to show the world what Camp Simcha is all about!
The Camp that Never Sleeps
It was yet another extraordinary day in Camp Simcha! For first activity, each camper from the Wacky Macs division got a chance to shoot down flying discs at New York Big Shot. Later, the entire camp had a blast playing “Simon Says” with Steve Max (A.K.A Simon Sez) and we found out that campers are far better than counselors at listening to directions! Night activity was a riveting surprise concert by Yaakov Shwekey. Also, April fools! Despite rumors that the New York Trip won’t be happening this year, it was just announced that we will in fact be going to New York City tomorrow!
New York Day
Star Wars Day
Light sabers, Darth vader masks and black capes, campers and counselors were all geared up for Star Wars day. Campers went through a bounce house “boot camp” in order to become proper stormtroopers. In classic Camp Simcha fashion, it turned into a massive water fight! Everyone went wild when campers got up on stage and performed original songs which were recorded in our very own studio. It was also Deal Day today! Each camper got a chance to fill up his own bag with tons of awesome prizes! We’d like to thank all the generous people from Deal for joining us today and for giving our campers such an amazing experience. Later, everyone gathered in the social hall for a Star Wars themed party. For night activity, the incredibly talented and entertaining “Twins from France” performed. Super excited we are for tomorrow what’s in store! (Yoda voice)
May the Force (4th) Be With You
It’s May 4th here in camp Simcha and that means it’s Star Wars day! The dining room is filled with Star Wars decorations such as hanging light sabers and Jedi’s. At breakfast, many campers enjoyed play fighting with light sabers which were hand crafted from pool noodles. Looking forward to another action-packed day here in Camp Simcha!
Camp Simcha for the Win!
What a marvelous day here in Camp Simcha! At lunch, every camper had a chance to slam pie into his counselor’s face! Following lunch, many campers and counselors jumped into the lake to remove the pie from their faces. Each division got a chance to compete in a game called “Slam” in which they were forced to make a dish out of mystery ingredients and each received a score from our own “professional” judges. Later, everyone gathered in the dining room for Brady’s Bar Mitzvah. He delivered a beautiful and inspiring speech which was followed by tons of dancing. The high flying trampoline jumpers from Xtreme Team performed for us by night activity. To cap off an already spectacular day… history was made tonight in Camp Simcha! The Camp Simcha basketball team won its first game ever, defeating Morasha in an exciting nail biter, which ended in a 70-67 score.
Pie Day!
Howdy y’all! It’s national pi(e) day in Camp Simcha! The dining room stage is backdropped with pink checkered wallpaper and there is a big blue tarp on the floor ready to catch all the pie that doesn’t stay on the counselors’ faces today! Catch y’all later!
First Shabbat
Wow! What an incredible and inspiring Shabbat! Before Shabbat, campers and counselors suited up and put on their best smiles for pictures. Friday night consisted of tons of singing and dancing and the entire camp got up and performed a dance in front of all the visiting families- it was awesome! We enjoyed our weekly Shabbat bingo game where all the winners were awarded amazing prizes. We’re super excited for what’s in store for the upcoming week!
Happy Purim!
Today was Purim in Camp Simcha and it was hard not to smile! Campers and staff members wore their favorite costumes and the dining room was covered in masks and other cool Purim decorations. The entire camp danced in the dining room by lunch and many campers even got up on stage and showed off some of their cool dance moves! Our campers also enjoyed pre-Shabbat challah baking, which resulted in some beautiful looking challahs and tons of mess! Shabbat shalom from Camp Simcha!
